2009 Striking Competition

On Saturday 5th December 2009 the Society of Framland Ringers held their annual Striking Competition at Eaton church on the delightful ring of six bells. The competition allows the ringers (campanologists to the wider public) to demonstrate their skill especially with regard to speed and spacing of the bells. With 18 participants the three teams were drawn from a hat on the night. The groups then had only a short practice ring as a team before the competition commenced. The judge from Kirby Muxloe congratulated all bands on the standard of ringing with fault numbers similar and a very close call between the first two.

The winning band included Nicole of (Stathern) who had been ringing for less than two years. Other members of the winning team were Wendy (Melton Mowbray), Ken (Croxton Kerrial), Colin (Stathern) and Barry & Tony (Thorpe Arnold). The evening concluded with coffee and mince pies along with more ringing of the church bells. The winning team is shown with the shield at Eaton.
