Striking competition and social 2014

We met at Branston on a chilly December evening for the annual striking competition. Members and non-members attended allowing three teams to enter. Teams were selected at random on the night by drawing teams out of the hat.

The winning team 2014 - Becky, Marion, Nick, Philip, Wendy and John.

The first team to ring rang Grandsire doubles, the second team rang Rounds and Call Changes, the third team finishing with Plain Bob Doubles. While the judge collated the scores, the ringers warmed up with a cup of tea and a mince pie. We waited with anticipation for the scores. The winning team had 9½ faults ringing Grandsire. The teams ringing call changes and Plain Bob came joint second with 15½ faults. Once the shield was presented, we remembered a former Framland member, Norman Cooke of Waltham on the Wolds, who is sadly no longer with us. The evening continued with more mince pies and ringing. Our thanks go to Branston Church for hosting the competition, our judge David, and to those who organised the ringers on the night.
